-2.3 Post-Dive

2.3 Post-Dive

Upon surfacing, pO2 must be maintained until the diver has doffed the face mask, helmet, and/or removed the /DSVBOV from his mouth. Thereafter, doffing the system takes a very short amount of time.

Following the dive, these basic procedures should be taken to secure the unit:

1.      Close breathing loop (BOV/DSV)

2.      Shut-off oxygen and diluent supplies

3.      Shut down electronics

4.      Thoroughly rinse all components with fresh water (externally)

If the unit will be dived again, the [scrubber] dive time should be noted, along with gas contents pressures. Presuming diving is completed, the following additional steps should be taken to secure the unit:

5.      Open the center section and allow to air dry

6.      Dump the spent absorbent

7.      Rinse and disinfect the breathing loop. Be careful to not wet the oxygen sensors

8.      Leave the breathing loop open to air dry and ventilate

Once the system dries thoroughly, it can be stowed.

Record keeping requirements should be completed for both the equipment and personnel, including ongoing maintenance.
